HVAC Trane Warranty

HVAC Trane Warranty- O'Brien Heating and Air CompanyHaving a ten-year parts warranty on your HVAC system is a tremendous benefit.  Though, there are steps that need to be taken to ensure your system obtains it.  HVAC manufacturers have different warranties.  Since O’Brien’s is a Trane certified dealer this article will discuss Trane’s parts warranty.

Equipment Registration.

When having your Trane system installed by O’Brien, we’ll take the correct steps to confirm the equipment is properly registered with Trane.  Other companies may miss this step.  Meaning that equipment only qualifies for the baseline warranty of five years.  This is a major loss!  So, if you do choose another company for your Trane installation be sure the equipment registration is discussed.

The warranty covers parts such as the compressor, coils, and internal functional parts.  For more details on the specifics of Trane’s parts warranty visit their site.

Transferring the HVAC Trane Warranty.

If you purchase a home with a Trane system, you have 90 days to transfer the warranty!  For a small fee, you can transfer the 10-year parts warranty, so it does not revert back the base limited warranty of five years.  This is very important to do and must be done by either the seller or the person purchasing the home.

If O’Brien is notified of a home sale with a system we installed, we do our best to notify the new homeowner to transfer the warranty.  However, O’Brien is usually not notified of home sales.  Therefore, even if we installed the Trane system, if the warranty was not transferred within the 90-day period it will reset to the base limited warranty of five years.  This is the rule per Trane, not O’Brien Service Company.

Keep Your Parts Warranty Valid.

Manufactures require proof of maintenance to keep a valid warranty.  This is a whole other topic for another blog post but felt it was important to mention.  Need annual maintenance?  Contact O’Brien to learn about our Energy Savings Club!

Why O’Brien.

Just to recap, be sure when your new Trane system is installed that it properly registered.  O’Brien will do this for their customers, other HVAC companies may not.  When buying a home with a Trane unit transfer the warranty within 90 days of purchasing the home to keep the 10 years parts warranty.  If you fail to do this is it will revert to the base warranty of five years.  O’Brien Service Company has been Wilmington’s local independent Trane dealer since 1981.  Contact us for questions!
