I called them for estimate for repair and before the guy gave me an estimate, he was telling me he was going to have a salesperson call me to purchase a new unit. The cost of repairing mine was high and it was for my best interest to purchase a new unit. I told him my best interest was the cheaper route that my unit was only 10 years old and I thought trane units lasted a lot longer. The guy then told me he wasn't sure if the parts would be under warranty. I would have to get up with a person who installed it which was the company that was there giving me the estimate of Brian Heating and Air. The guy also stated he would call me the following day with an estimate because he could not give me one at the time. The next day came around and no phone call on the third day after he left I called the office and got an estimate, it was closed to $2,700. They scheduled a time and day to come out to install the parts and then while they were here again they told me, I would have to get another part that they had no way of telling this part wasn't working until the first parts were fixed that part came in. They installed that part and again they told me, I need two other parts. They told me I could use my unit because it was working and running. The two other parts weren't broken he said but with the summer coming and the extreme use of the unit they would probably would not last. Now with him saying that, this means my unit should cool off my home and heat it up well guess what? it did not. It was working the same as it was from the initial visit. My repair cost now stands at $3,100 and still no change at all. I cannot wait until this Friday. I am hoping, I can change this review and I hope and pray my unit is working like it should be. I have been dealing with this since the last part of February and here we are the second week of March and I still don't have any changes in my unit. I'm scared to even look at my next light bill because my unit is on for hours and hours with no change. actually the other day instead of it getting cooler it was getting hotter inside my home. I did notify the office and they said if it wasn't working to shut it off.Here's a little bit of information, also, if you're not in their savings club program you're put at the end of the day and this came from one of the guys that came out to work on my unit. I live alone with one income and I did not have the money to purchase the program even though it sounded pretty good but now after this experience with them I'm not sure if I'll be calling them back.It's really sad because I have been using this company for years but I guess it's like everything else the service has gone down and the prices have gone up.

O'Brien originally installed our upstairs unit approximately 20 years ago. It still works great. They replaced the downstairs unit almost three years ago. It was having a slight issue but it was time for annual maintenance anyway so no big deal. Michael Sides came out to service the systems yesterday. He got us back on track with no problems at all. He thoroughly explained what was going on with both units, what he recommended going forward and why. There was no pressure, he answered all our questions, took his time examining everything, was nothing but honest and professional. Both units are running beautifully now. Best of all as Energy Savings Club Members with a full warranty on downstairs unit, the visit was free. Michael Sides even emailed photos of what he found and did during the visit. Highly recommend.

A couple of days later they had an inspector come in and check all the work that they had done, Michael Russell also came by for a follow up. What a day...woke to a toilet that wasn't working. Called and Angie was a delight. Even though they couldn't schedule till Wednesday that was fine. Then a cancelation. In rides Kyle and Steve. They checked out what needed to be done. Then I had a couple of situations I had been putting off. Well, within minutes they figured everything out...went back to the shop, returned and went to work finishing everything up in record time. We recently used O’Brien Service Company for a tricky electrical issue in our 1957 home. A lighting/receptacle circuit was intermittently losing power and causing flickering across multiple floors — not an easy problem to track down.Brad and his team were thorough, professional, and committed to identifying the root cause rather than just applying a quick fix. They spent the time systematically troubleshooting the circuit, rebuilding older connections, and replacing several devices to ensure everything was safe and functioning properly.Electrical issues in older homes can be complex, but they communicated clearly throughout the process and ultimately resolved the problem. They also worked with us on pricing, which we appreciated.Overall, we’re very happy with the outcome and would absolutely use them again for future electrical work.

So happy with our service call today. We just moved into our house and immediately had a small issue with the outside unit turning on and off erratically. Cris our service tech was professional and went above and beyond with answering all of my questions and replacing a sensor which caused the on & off issue. I've been a maintenance customer for over 15 years and my experience has been good . Today, the guy showed up and went to the truck to get his tools. I saw him go back to the unit, within 5 minutes I saw him go back to the truck. Minutes later he came back in and told me I needed to replace a fan motor. He was not at the unit long enough to even take anything off to check the unit. If this is what $165.00 maintenance contract gets, I will Not Renew Next Year....

Chris is the only one who took the time to measure my square footage, ask me questions about my hvac needs and explain, in depth, what my options were. He answered every question I presented. Man here for 3 hours and heat still not working. I kept asking what going on. I'm trying to figure it out. Went to my thermostat cutting wires and splicing together. Now after 3 hours it's a thermostat problem. He looking on phone to see how to do the thermostat and the cutting wires and splicing. He on the phone asking someone what to do. This turned out to be the worse mistake of my life. Thought I could get a new company to take on my needs. He had no clue. I hope he didn't make things worse. Still no heat after 130pm to 450pm. If that's the best they can do. This is horrible felt like he was a new grad ac person****UPDATE**** manager called me Mr Russell and was very understanding to my feelings about my circumstance and he made it right. Came over to my house and got it working. This was my 1st time with them and he made it become a better time. Thank you so much for the call and your assistance. I was so impressed with O’Brien services, including Jeremy who came by to talk to us about our dryer vent and then our whole house air system/HVAC. He was incredibly kind, spoke to us in a very professional, but understandable way and really helped us make some decisions and pay for things that we needed, but in those that we did not. I really loved that O’Brien offers a one-year maintenance plan. We opted to do this and literally we had somebody out the same day to take a look at our HVAC in the entire system. It was amazing. We’re so impressed with O’Brien and will be using them definitely in our future thank you O’Brien for being a wonderful service provider! 5-stars!

Excellent service from the time I made the first contact until the project was complete. I had a tankless water heater installed, along with 3 commodes, & indoor/outdoor plumbing repairs. I work for a home warranty service and I usually have a really hard time with companies that aren’t specifically contracted with us. The ease of which I got the information needed in order to determine coverage and move forward with a mutual customer’s claim stood out so much that I wanted to write this glowing review. Everyone I contacted over a roughly 16-minute phone call was perfectly lovely and answered all of my questions, no matter how silly or redundant they were for recorded-line purposes. They were polite, easy to talk to, and went above and beyond to carefully answer my questions so that the answers were complete and accurate to what happened. I usually have a really difficult time pinning answers down from providers that are not in our service network, but they answered confidently and honestly, making the approval process smooth. They even wished me a happy new year, and I’m not local nor a client of theirs! Thank you for making this particular work order much easier for me, you honestly have no idea!

This Company says clearly on there website Free Estimates. So when i called and told them i wanted someone to come out to give me an estimate they said ok. They took all my personel info and said ok and then after getting all my personel info they said it was a130.00 service fee to give me an estimate. This is very unprofessional and i now wonder what they are going to do with my info. Probobly sell it on the internet. I told them what I needed and they never said there would be a fee until they had all my info. There website below says right on there site free estimates. Not free estimates if you buy something from us. This is so unprofessional.

I purchased a dishwasher as a Christmas gift from Lowe’s who offered FREE installation. The installation appointment was scheduled for two weeks later with a window of “9 - 6!” Since I live in Wallace I left at 7:30 am as I had no idea when the contractor hired by Lowe’s would show up. Well, at 6 pm the contractor still had not showed or called ! I called Lowe’s and said they had over booked and would reschedule my appointment for the following week. 😰 So I repeated the schedule with the same 9-6 window a week later. The contractor finally showed up up - with NO call! The guy looked like a high school student! I asked him if he was a licensed plumber and he never answered! 🤬 He then walked into the kitchen, took one look at the old dishwasher and began taking pictures. He then sent them to his boss who called him back about 30 minutes later. He went outside to talk to his boss and returned a few minutes later and said they would NOT be able to install the dishwasher! 😳 I called Lowe’s to see if they had another contractor who would honor the free installation only to be told they only contract with that particular company! I was told that I could just return the dishwasher! 🤬 I was furious and told them to leave the dishwasher and I would hire someone else to install it. I then called O’Briens Service Company and scheduled the installation for a few days later. I was told the contractor would be there at 9 am! (Not an all day window!) True to their word, Kyle Willams and his assistant, David, were THERE at 9 am! Both Kyle and David saw NO issue in getting the installation completed as immediately gave me a quote. I made a comment about my plans to replace the kitchen faucet as my next gift to them and Kyle immediately gave me a revised quote to include that project with no additional service call. So while they were installing the dishwasher, I went to Lowe’s and picked up the faucet. Kyle and David had both installed in record time and they both work perfectly! They both were a delight to work with and were very professional. They really seemed like they enjoyed their job. Working with O’Briens was night and day different from the previous contractor! All I can say is I was very happy with the work Kyle and David did! And as far as Lowe’s goes, I think you need to fire your contractor and hire O’Briens! THEY are true professionals!! A huge thank you to Kyle and David for a job WELL done! I WILL be using you again!

Our experience with O’Brien Service Company could not have been better! Everyone was great from start to finish but working with Kris Sciales was truly a joy. He is knowledgeable and eager to meet our needs without being pushy like a prior HVAC company that pulled out the hard sale at the end asking for a decision by the end of the day or lose out on their great deal (which was thousands more than O’Brien’s. I highly recommend contacting this LOCAL family owned company that has earned its stellar reputation in Wilmington over the last 40 years. Recently, O'Brien Service completed extensive multi-day plumbing replacements and repairs to my townhouse. This was the third time I've used O'Brien Service Company within the past four years for both HVAC and plumbing needs, and each time O'Brien's work and service has been exceptional. This time around, the work was led by Kyle who was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. His work was not only clean and well done, he took time to answer my questions and explain in detail the needed plumbing repairs. He was communicative and thorough with explanations, providing me with enough information that I felt I was making informed decisions. It's been said that "good companies hire good people." My previous two experiences with O'Brien, coupled most recently with Kyle's work, are prime representations of this principle. I will continue using O'Brien with future work and gladly refer friends and colleagues to them as well. Kyle also tells a great joke about taking a sloth for a walk. I smile each time I see a sloth now.

Dillon came out for the annual HVAC service inspection. I had to have a capacitor replaced, but luckily it was in the truck, so he didnt need to make an extra trip back out to me. Excellent service! Kris Sciales, Design Specialist, managed the entire process, helped me understand what I needed for HVAC replacement and offered options for my consideration. He patiently answered my numerous questions, ensuring I understood everything. He is a highly competent "project manager" and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with him. I could not be more pleased with both the quality of the work and the professionalism of the install team. I had a complete duct replacement and new air conditioning system installed. The crew: Will, Jedd, Nick and Ottavio; were all very pleasant and hard working. The started each day on time, and always cleaned up at the end of the day. “During the snowstorm, our hot water pipe froze under the house. I turned off the water and we called several places trying to get serviced, but the roads, of course were very bad. It looked like it would be two days to get water back. We called O’Brien who we used very successfully for AC and heat. Chris answered the phone and not only told us he would get out as soon as possible to fix things, but also suggested that I could turn off the water at the hot water heater. Doing that allowed us to have water while we waited for our repair. This was tremendous service and nobody else took the time to do this. David and Lauren came out to do the repair. We have a somewhat complex system hooked up and they were able to immediately figure out what to do and had us back up and running with hot water in a couple hours. All three of them are so nice and professional. We highly recommend O’Brien plumbing. It is a great all-around company.”
