Help O'Brien Service Stop Summer Hunger

For most of us summer is our favorite time of the year!  The sun is shining, we can spend our days on our beautiful beaches, and it’s time to relax.  Though there are people in our community that do not have the luxury to enjoy their summer as much as others, in fact it can be a stressful time for some.  During the summer months many families worry about feeding their children, due to the fact that school is out.  The schools provide these children meals during the school year, but once school is out it is up to us as a community to help these families in need.

For the month of July O’Brien Service Company is teaming up with the Wilmington Food Bank Branch to help stop summer hunger.  The Food Bank located in Wilmington serves Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender counties.  In these counties over 69,000 individuals are at risk of hunger.  Of those over 20,000 of them are children.  Since the need for food in the summer is so high, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina created a program called, “Stop Summer Hunger.”

There are a few different ways that you can help to stop summer hunger.  The first is if during the month of July if O’Brien Service Company comes to your house for a service call you can donate directly to your technician, they will have boxes in their vans.  If you do donate an item for the Food Bank, O’Brien Service Company will take $10 off of that visit.  Another way to donate is to stop by our office, we will have boxes there also.  Finally if you want to do more than donate you can get in touch with the Food Bank and see other ways you can help!

If you click here you can see a list of items the Food Bank needs.  Also to visit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina website you can click below.  These children and their families rely on this community to help them through these summer months.  Please if you are able to make a donation do so, because for them, summertime doesn’t mean a fun filled vacation; for them, no school means no meals.
